Dave Winer thinks our brains are hierarchical. Sam Ruby thinks otherwise. Well, if you could see my HD, you’d find those deep, endless hierarchical structures (backups are a nightmare). They come from my drive to classify and organize. But there’s this other part of me that likes patterns, and those are not necessarily hierarchical. In fact, they’re more like networks, as James Snell points.
