I guess everybody is entitled to their own opinion on what kinds of books they like. I liked the way the book was written in a literary sense, but I didn't like the tales themselves. Not much like the science fiction I enjoy. 

Also, I think I have used a wrong word in the entry above. I'm not a native English speaker and sometimes I make mistakes. I just checked shallow in the dictionary and found it's too strong a word in that context. In fact, I would say the tales lack a sense of completion. It's probably what Aldiss intended but I didn't like it. Just my opinion.
