In Praise of Clutter is an interesting The Economist article arguing the case for clutter in the office desk. According the article, clutter actually helps because paper spread over a desk is a physical representation of thinking processes — “a temporary holding pattern for ideas and inputs” as the article puts it. Interesting stuff. I will have to show this article to my wife
